It’s almost time for college football again! It’s been a long wait, but in just a few days we’ll have action on the gridiron. I wanted to take a look at a team that I’m really high on coming into the season. Here’s a preview of the Auburn Tigers in 2015.
Auburn 2015 Football Predictions & Preview

Head Coach- Gus Malzahn
Auburn Tigers 2015 Betting Odds from MyBookie.Ag
Season Win Total: 8.5
Auburn Odds to win SEC: +250
The Auburn Tigers were a couple plays away from winning the title in the 2013-2014 season. They took a significant step backward last year. I see them turning things right back around this year. There’s no doubt they play in a very tough division (the SEC West). No one would choose to play in this division. Having said that, I believe Auburn is the team with the highest upside in this division. In general, whoever wins the SEC West is going to be part of the College Football Playoffs.
Auburn Offense
Nick Marshall is gone and Jeremy Johnson takes over at the quarterback spot. Marshall was a better runner, but Johnson is unquestionably a better passer. Gus Malzahn has always been able to scheme his way into having a great rushing attack, so I don’t worry about the Tigers ability to run the football. Look for Jovon Robinson to be a very productive runner for Auburn. D’Haquille Williams has been dinged up in the past, but he is an ultra-talented guy who is going to carve up some secondaries this year if he stays healthy. How good is he? Most NFL scouts rate him as the best receiver in college football. Johnson’s accurate passing combined with Williams high upside at the receiver spot should be a lethal combination. The offensive line is solid too. Auburn will be very good on offense as they have been in the past.
Auburn Defense
Here’s the primary reason why I am excited about Auburn this year. Will Muschamp was hired to be the defensive coordinator. While Muschamp didn’t do well as a head coach, he is an excellent defensive mind. Auburn hasn’t had much trouble scoring in the past few seasons, but they have had trouble coming up with stops. They allowed 41 points to Texas A&M and 55 to Alabama last year. Muschamp will immediately make this unit better. They return eight starters, and they picked up a couple key transfers. They have a good run stuffer in Montravious Adams at the defensive tackle spot. They have improved depth in the secondary as Blake Countess tranferred in from Michigan. This Auburn defense actually gave up 22 yards per game last year than they did the year before. Look for a much bigger improvement this season.
Auburn 2015 Football Schedule
There isn’t going to be an easy schedule in the SEC West. Auburn does have some advantages though. The Tigers host both Alabama and Georgia. Their game at LSU on September 19 will be an early measuring stick in their first conference game. Another tough test comes at Arkansas on October 24 and at Texas A&M on November 7. Auburn finishes the season with three straight home games.
2015 Auburn Football Predictions
I’m calling for Auburn to lose only one game in the regular season and be a part of this year’s College Football Playoffs. Auburn over 8.5 season wins is one of my favorite win totals. The Tigers to make the playoffs is +350 or higher at most places, and I see that as a strong value play.
I’m up 34.61 units in college football over the past five years. I’ve cashed on almost 55% of my NCAA FB plays overall and 57% of my NCAA FB totals plays. My Season NCAA Football Subscription is just $450 for a limited time as an early bird special.
Good luck this season!
