Cincinnati Bearcats (2-3) vs. Louisville Cardinals (3-2) Betting Odds from BetUS
Date/Time: Friday October 15- 8:00 PM
MoneyLine: Cincinnati (-145) Louisville (+125)
College Football Betting Spread: Cincinnati -3 (-105) Louisville +3 (-115)
Over/Under: 56.5
Cincinnati
The Bearcats got off to a slow start this year, but they appear to be making some progress in the last couple games. They lost by only two to Oklahoma and then blew out Miami (OH) in their last couple games. Cincinnati will look to get on track for the Big East Conference season now.
Zach Collaros is the quarterback for the Bearcats, and he is a good one. Collaros has thrown 12 touchdowns already thid year, and only one interception. Collaros can make plays with his feet when he has to, and he is a solid team leader. Isiah Pead is the leading rusher for Cincinnati, and he is averaging 9.8 yards per carry. The biggest problem this offense has had would have to be the fact that they have failed to convert on many of their opportunities in the red zone.
The Cincinnati defense is great against the run, and terrible against the pass. The Bearcats are allowing 268 passing yards per game this year, but opponents are only scoring 20 points per game. This unit has done a solid job getting off the field on third down, allowing just 33% of third down attempts to be successful. This defense will be tested by a surprisingly strong Cardinals offense.
Louisville
Charlie Strong’s Louisville football team is surprising some people this year. The Cardinals are 3-2, and they have been extremely competitive in their two losses this year. Now it is time for Louisville to prove they can do well in conference play.
The Cardinals are led by a strong rushing attack. Bilal Powell has stepped up and been a great play maker for this offense. Powell already has 689 yards rushing through just five games. Adam Froman has done a nice job managing the offense at the quarterback position. In his last two starts, Froman has seven touchdowns and just one interception. The Bearcats have a strong rushing defense, but Louisville will need to get their running game going if they are going to win this one.
The Louisville defense has played very well so far this year. The most important statistic for them so far this season has been how great they on third down. Opponents are converting just 26.6% of their third down conversion attempts against Louisville this year. The team does well to put pressure on the quarterback, which takes a lot of pressure off their secondary.
Cincinnati vs. Louisville Betting Trends:
The favorite is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings
Cincinnati is just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall
Louisville is just 2-10 ATS in their last 12 Big East games
The over is 5-2 in Louisville’s last 7 games overall
Cincinnati vs. Louisville Free College Football Pick:
The Bearcats offense has improved quite a bit of late, and I fully expect them to be able to score quite a few in this game. At the same time, Louisville’s running game will be a big test for Cincinnati’s defense. The free pick for this ESPN Friday night showcase is the over 56.5.
