We enter Week 2 with an interesting game here in the state of Idaho. Both teams are coming off impressive wins in totally different fashions. With Boise State battling back down eighteen and coming up with the an impressive win against FSU too Marshall blowing out their opponent VMI by roughly 40 points.

These two teams have only met just once. That meeting came in 1994 when Boise State defeated the Herd 28-24 on the well known “Smurf Turf”. Boise State is 4-1 ATS in its last 6 matches and 8-1 SU in its last 9 games. The Broncos are 18-2 their last 20 home matches and 5-0 SU in its last 5 contest against a team from the Conference USA. So you see which way I’m leaning here.
Boise State- I believe Boise State should be gearing its momentum from the upset against Florida State just a week ago. We all know Boise State was down 24-6 and looked like it was going to be a route until the second half started. Hank Bachmeier the true freshman quarterback led them to a total of 621yds on offense and was an impressive 10-19 on 3rd downs. Which shows they have an offense that is going to be a nightmare for the Mountain West. With Marshall not having a true test in week 1 I believe the Broncos have a slight advantage here over the Thundering Herd. Tough travel spot for Marshall here. Thundering Herd are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points. They are also 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. For those reasons I will be backing the home team here.
Marshall- As much as I will be eye balling the Herd this season I just don’t see this ending well for them in this travel spot. Yes they are coming off a big win…but come on it was against VMI. They dominated passing for 340 yards and rushing the ball for 280 yards. Both teams here will be putting up some impressive numbers through the air but I’m not sure they will be able to hang with the Broncos. Thundering Herd are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win. While the Broncos are 4-0 ATS in their
last 4 Friday games. The way I expect these two teams to put up yards this game screams over. I can easily see the Broncos putting up numbers in the low 40s. I’m confident enough to lay the points here and take Boise State.
Free Pick: Boise State -10.5
