The 0-5 Temple Owls are on the road this week looking for their first win of the season as they faceoff against the 3-2 Cincinnati Bearcats in an ACC rivalry game. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN starting with kickoff at 8 PM. It’s a rare chance for these two teams to play in primetime on national television.

Temple Owls vs. Cincinnati Bearcats College Football Preview

College Football Betting Favorite: Cincinnati -20.5

Temple hasn’t won a game all year. Cincinnati is coming off a disappointing loss to lowly USF as a double digit favorite last week. Will Temple be able to catch the Bearcats sleeping or will Cincinnati bounce back in a big way? Let’s get to the free college football pick.
Temple Owls:
Having lost six straight games dating back to the 2012 season, the Temple Owls are looking for their first victory on Friday night; however, the team has yet to play a consistent game and look poised to continue their losing streak. Despite having lost to both the #14 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the #7 Louisville Cardinals, the Owls gained valuable experience. However, experience only won’t win a game and Owls have struggled on offense all season long. Currently, the team is ranked 93rd in the NCAA for passing yards per game at 204.8 per game and 89th for rushing yards at 137.6. After being benched during the Louisville game, QB Connor Reilly needs to have a strong performance to keep his starting job. The defense has played just as poorly and is allowing more than 27 points per game which is good enough for 69th in the nation. The Owls have given up more than twenty points in every game this season and have allowed thirty points in two games.
Cincinnati Bearcats:
A bit of an enigma this season, the Bearcats have had three dominating victories and two losses to less than average teams. Led by the strong arm of Brandon Kay who has 816 yards passing and 7 touchdown passes through 5 games, the Bearcats and their powerful offense should have a field day against the porous defense of the Owls. On the ground the Bearcats are averaging 200.2 yards per game that is good for 42nd in the nation. With both Hosey Williams and Ralph Abernathy having more than 300 yards rushing on the season, expect the Bearcats to exploit the holes in the Owls’ defense by rushing early and often.
Free Pick: Cincinnati -20.5
Cincinnati should be in a bad mood coming into this game. The Bearcats cost themselves the game last week because of penalties and turnovers. They’ll be focused and ready to go against an outmanned Temple team here. I like the Bearcats to cover.
