Tennessee Titans vs. St. Louis Rams Betting Odds from BetOnline
NFL Betting Spread: Titans +3 (+100) Rams -3 (-120)
Moneyline: Rams (-170) Titans (+150)
Total: 37
The St. Louis Rams were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL last year. The team was expected to be one of the worst in the NFL, but they nearly made the playoffs. The Rams didn’t make too many changes over the offseason, but they are a young group that should be getting better. On the other side, the Tennessee Titans look like a completely different team this year. Matt Hasselbeck is the new starter at the quarterback spot, and the Vince Young era is over.
The Titans dropped eight of their last nine games last year. It was clear this was a team that was in need of a new direction. Both Vince Young and Mike Fisher are no longer with the team. Matt Hasselbeck is the new quarterback and Mike Munchak is now the head coach. Jake Locker was drafted in the first round, and he is the quarterback of the future for the Titans. The hope is that Hasselbeck has a couple strong seasons left in him, and then they can pass the torch to Locker. The Titans defense has lost several key members in the last few years, and they are no better than mediocre at this point. No team suffered more from the lost time in the offseason than the Titans, who badly need to learn their new system.
Quarterback Sam Bradford gives the Rams a star to build around on offense. Bradford was tremendous last year despite a severe lack of weapons on the outside. Lance Kendricks should be a big pickup at the tight end spot, and the Rams hope Mike Sims-Walker can help stretch the defense. The Rams are deep in the backfield now as they picked up Cadillac Williams and Jerrius Norwood to back up Stephen Jackson. St. Louis also bolstered their offensive line by picking up Harvey Dahl. The biggest reason the Rams are on the rise is their drastic improvement on the defensive side. The defensive line is anchored by Chris Long and Fred Robbins, and they are very good. James Laurinaitis is quickly becoming one of the best linebackers in the league. This defense should continue to improve.
Titans vs. Rams Free NFL Pick: Rams -3 (-120)
*3 Star NFL Free Play* The St. Louis Rams have been a great preseason team under Steve Spagnuolo. This is his third year with the team, and they are 7-2 in preseason action. The Rams have a lot of position battles going on, which should mean the players will be giving it their all tonight. Feely is a solid second quarterback who should be able to move the offense against the Titans. Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer are both expected to miss this one, so the Titans will be without their best runners. Jake Locker will probably see quite a bit of time for Tennessee, and I’m not sold that he is ready just yet. I like the Rams to win and cover the spread here. St. Louis -3.
