Over/Under: 62.5
UCF
The Central Florida Knights are the top team in the Conference USA East Division, and they are a legitimate contender this year. They are one of the best teams in the state of Florida this year, and that is saying something with all the talent in that state.
The UCF offense is all about their running game. Ronnie Weaver is a very good running back, and he carries the ball very frequently. He already has 138 carries this year, and he has picked up ten touchdowns on the season. The Knights average 200 yards per game on the ground, and this offensive line is adept at opening holes for their running back. Jeff Godfrey is the quarterback for this Central Florida offensive unit. Godfrey is still working on his passing game, but he is another very solid runner. He is completing 63.6% of his passes this year, and he averages 5.2 yards per rushing attempt.
The UCF defense is definitely the best in Conference USA. The Knights are ranked in the top 16 nationally in every major defensive category. They are allowing just 16.5 points per game so far this season. It’s tough to find any weakness on this defense. The biggest area of strength is their linebackers, who get around the field and make big plays very often.
Houston
The Houston Cougars are without Case Keenum, but this team has still been pointing up the points this year. The Cougars are the top ranked team in the Conference USA West Division, so this is an important game for them.
Keenum and backup quarterback Cotton Turner were both injured in Houston’s loss to UCLA earlier this year. Freshman David Piland has been forced into the starting quarterback role. Piland struggled in his first couple games, but he has really improved of late. Piland has thrown for nine touchdowns and just one interception in his last three starts. Bryce Beall and Michael Hayes give this team a formidable tailback tandem that keeps the defense honest. Despite their injury trouble, Houston is still averaging 41.6 points per game.
The Houston Cougars hasn’t been very good this season. The secondary has been pretty good, but the front seven have been dominated by their best opponents. The rushing defense can be a real problem, which isn’t good for their matchup with Central Florida. Houston is also allowing opponents to convert on 48.3% of their third down conversion attempts, which is one of the worst marks in the nation. This defense will have its hands full in this game.

UCF vs. Houston Free College Football Pick:
The Houston Cougars have fought hard to stay in the race, but I think UCF has the better team. The Knights should be able to run the ball consistently, and they certainly have the better defense. I like UCF -2 in this game.
